Guidance, Inc. (a nonprofit 501 C 3 tax exempt organization) began in August 2008 with the following mission: “Seeking the pleasure of Allah (SWT) by building character according to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and to serve the community.” Just before completing our first year, the organization bought a property located at 5075 S 43rd Street, Greenfield, WI 53220 and started Masjid Al-Huda.
In an effort to fulfill our mission, our very first project was a food drive for needy people of the community. By the Grace of Allah, almost forty-five families were provided groceries for the holy month of Ramadan and Eid al Fitr. The project was continued during the rest of the year on an as-requested basis. The organization also started another project for offering rent assistance to needy families.
Also in keeping with our mission, Masjid Al-Huda provides a wide variety of educational opportunities for the Muslim community in Milwaukee. From classes focused on learning to read the Qur’an properly, to those centered on memorization of the Qur’an, to classes for youth and adults on the basic and advanced aspects of our Deen, Masjid Al-Huda endeavors to help support the community in building Islamic faith and character. We also host community-wide lectures and retreats featuring local and national scholars.
